Mike Nelson has made a tremendous impact on the company as a whole as well as to his department in his 9 years with the company. Mike started his journey here in Sonoma, CA working in a warehouse during high school and college breaks. He then took on a full-time position as an operations manager and lead buyer. After 17 years of working for the same company, he took some time to travel. See below to find out how he proposed to his wife, who knew he was such a romantic? After traveling and partnering with the love of his life he came to work at Soligent, DC Power at the time. We couldn’t be more thrilled to call him a friend and colleague and hope you enjoy learning a bit more about this rock star.

What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Never put off until tomorrow what you can take on today.
What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?
I do 1 of 2 things, either go spend a few minutes with my daughters to reset my priorities and perspective or get in some much-needed exercise to reset.
What’s a trip that changed you, and why?
My first trip to Europe, it helped me see different cultures and realize how different the world is and yet how similar we all are.
What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?
The day they added Chelsea Smallwood to the Dream Team of Laura and I. 🙂
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
That I am a romantic and proposed to my wife while she was on Juliette’s balcony in Verona, Italy.
What’s something you saw recently that made you smile?
My Daughter’s Snowman.
What’s something—big or small—that you’re really good at?
Memorizing Part Numbers.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?
Tequila and an IPA and doing art with my girls.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Talented, Reliable and Thoughtful.
Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
Carpentry. I love to build things with wood.
What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
Football. The 49ers.
