From port congestion to new growth in storage and solar, we see the industry rapidly changing. With these changes happening all around us, we as a company are excited to see where our impact lies in the midst of it all. That is why I wanted to take some time and talk about the positive impact that we (and you) are having on the world.
Last Monday, we went over with our company the direct impact they are having on human lives and their carbon emissions impact.
First and foremost, I wanted to highlight our GivePower partnership and effort and encourage each installer to think about joining.
Soligent kicked off its engagement in the GivePower partnership a few months back and last month we were astounded by the news that we recently received from this incredible organization when they recently assured us that over 2,000 people will be getting clean drinking water for a full year solely from our July contribution.
Today, 783 million people are without access to clean water, 40% live in sub-Saharan Africa, and more than 320 million people lack access to safe drinking water. Although July’s total of 2,000 might seem small to the problem we are trying to solve, it is not small for the 2,000 people that will no longer have the hardship of contaminated water exposing them to diseases. The lack of water is often an insurmountable obstacle to overcome while being faced with the direct burden. You can’t grow food, you can’t build housing, you can’t stay healthy, you can’t stay in school and you can’t keep working. Without clean water, the possibility of breaking out of the cycle of poverty is incredibly thin. That is where we as an industry step in. It really has been a true differentiator when we talk to homeowners about their impact from solar and the lives they are proudly changing and saving. As Robert Swan said, “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” We can work daily to aid from a distance to provide these wonderful communities with clean water to give their people a chance at a flourishing, healthy life.
Second, I wanted to highlight the power of us all thinking about our direct carbon impact. This month, each Soligent team member removed double-digit millions in pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by deploying solar. By leveraging the power of our Soligent team, we were able to rid life times of carbon impact for many people.
The mission of the renewable energy industry is driven by the need to have a sustainable future. Our industry is made up of individuals who consistently are making a positive impact through their hard work. This month I felt compelled to highlight that although there is a lot going on in solar, the positive impact of each person in our industry, and each homeowner who decides to go solar, is something very powerful.
I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of a team and industry that is driving monumental change, as a powerhouse for doing good for our world. As Lily Tomlin said, “I always wondered why somebody didn’t do something about that, then I realized, I am somebody,”
Have a fantastic month!
