Austin is passionate about leaving the world better than he found it. At Soligent, he leads our Supply Chain and Warehouse Operations teams as well as Solar Engine, our in-house department that helps installers deploy solar cheaper and faster through financial products, software solutions and other services.
Prior to Soligent, Austin was the Chief of Environment, Energy and Open Space for the City of Boston. As the City's Chief Sustainability Officer and a Mayoral Cabinet member, he managed an $80MM budget and led over 430 employees at the City's Environment, Buildings, Parks and Recreation Departments. Under his leadership, Boston was named the most energy efficient city in the US twice in a row, launched its first investments targeted to defend the city from sea-level rise and began retrofitting its 300+ buildings with energy efficiency and solar projects.
Austin also accelerated solar adoption as the Interim Head of Project Finance for TerraVerde Renewable Partners. At TerraVerde, he optimized financial returns for clients with solar, storage and energy efficiency projects by sourcing capital solutions and balancing solar array production against estimated energy use.
Austin's broad experience through positions in renewable energy consulting, cleantech startups, energy investment banking and energy policy help guide Soligent and its customers through the ever changing solar market and renewable energy policy landscapes.
At home, he tells friends and family more than they want to know about switching to LED light bulbs (it's super easy and saves money!). In his spare time, he aggressively fights the urge to adopt every dog he sees.
